Ordered Mad Mex to go (I do this often lol) and got my usual steak tacos and the birria quesadilla. Both are always 10/10 and never really miss. I usually get jersey chips too - they have a great queso and ranch! Love to dine in or eat out at this big restaurant group!

Great food. Loved their tacos and appetizers. Service is quick. Ambiance is great ! Best place for a date night.

Wow - can't believe I missed reviewing this Mad Mex until now. I have eaten at several Mad Mex locations - all good - and each with its own ambience. The Monroeville location feels like the "fun uncle" of the bunch. This was especially true when hubby and I ate at the bar on a November evening. It was like we had a free floor show. They were super busy and it was all hands on deck, but we still didn't wait very long for our meals. All the locations feature Tex-Mex décor that feels both rustic and fun. Mad Mex, part of the Big Burrito Group of restaurants, doesn't feel like a chain. That said, the food has the consistent quality you expect from a chain. One benefit of the corporate oversight for me is that staff is, for the most part, well educated re: allergens. (Plus their website is helpful.) They regularly substitute corn tortillas for the flour ones for me, with no decline in quality of the food. Mad Mex has a very creative and diverse menu - complete with the standards you can rely on and the seasonal surprises. This includes the margaritas, which highlight the flavors of the ingredients instead of drowning them in sugar. Sometimes, when I mention Mad Mex to someone they reply "I don't like Mexican food." To that I reply, it's not Mexican, it's Mad Mex. I enjoy both, but appreciate the difference.

Mad Mex is a favorite in my family so we come here on a semi-annual basis. I arrived at 11 and sat at the bar. the staff was friendly and accommodating of my complicated gift card order and took care of it while I was waiting for my food. I tried the Mad Mex Quesadilla and it was quite good. I went with the steak option and the meat was cooked just right, not too chewy. It was a smaller entrée in general, but worked well for a small lunch.

Normally, we do not go to chain restaurants. Big Burrito is one of the exceptions. Mad Mex is always a great meal. House margaritas along with the salsas & chips are fresh & flavorful. Tonight, we had the pick a dippa, which was house made chips with your choice of 3 salsas or dips. Our party of 4 had 4 different meals. They were The Big Burrito, The Chicken Chimi, Super Mad Mex Birria Burrito & the Birria tacos with waffle fries. For dessert, we enjoyed a platter of 4 chocolate hazelnut churros. The service was average, and the restaurant needed some sweeping after a busy dinner shift. The decor is always fun and the food is always worth the trip

I had the pleasure of dining at Mad Max today, and it was like a much-needed oasis in the middle of a desert of boring meals. I want to articulate the exceptional customer service and the remarkable ambience at Mad Max in Monroeville. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly by the staff who were attentive and prompt in refilling our drinks and salsa to make sure we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The ambience of the restaurant is both sterile and hip, like a contemporary, hipster version of a Tex-Mex eatery. It has maintained this unique aesthetic for the last 20 years, blending metal and wood elements with abstract chili motifs that are illuminated on the ceiling. The restaurant has a distinctive vibe that is enhanced by the eclectic tribal music playing in the background, which adds to the overall experience. In short, Mad Max in Monroeville boasts an impressive ambiance that's both modern and rustic. The restaurant's unique atmosphere is only heightened by the exceptional customer service we received, making it a must-visit dining destination. My wife and I always start with the sampler platter, which has refried beans, guacamole, salsa, and chips. It's our go-to order, and it's consistently good - a refreshing change from our cat's attempts at cooking. I'd rate it a solid 7 out of 10. The guacamole is always hearty and delicious, and we always eat it up faster than a cat chasing a laser pointer. For the main course, I ordered the Las Wingos wrap, which was still as good as the last time I had it. I ordered it with a side of French fries, which was like a match made in heaven. However, I must say that the wrap was smaller than I remember it to be - it was as if the restaurant had a machine that could shrink anything it touched. But hey, it was still delicious, especially with their blue cheese sauce, which was like a lightning bolt of flavor in my mouth. If you're looking for a Tex-Mex restaurant that's better than most other Mad Max locations in the region, then Mad Max is the place to be. And if you're a fan of quirky humor, then this review is for you. My experience today was an eight out of 10, or eight fares out of 10. So do yourself a favor and give Mad Max a try - it's a trip worth taking, even if you have to dodge some shrinking rays along the way.

Happy hour starts at 4:30 daily. Great sit down dining option with colorful artwork and a neat seating setup. A little dark inside. Bar. Indoor and outdoor seating available. We ordered wings, a taco dish, side of cheese, chimichanga dish and mad Mex bowl with 2 margaritas and a soft drink was around $80-90 bucks.

If you're in the mood for authentic Mexican food, then look elsewhere. That's not a bad thing though as I friggin' love Mad Mex and try to visit when I return to visit the Pittsburgh area. They do a different take on Mexican cuisine that's not authentic, but so good! Americanized Mexican at it's finest. My absolute favorite item on their menu is their Southwest Wings... these green, flavorful wings were one of the first things I ever ordered at the North Hills location and that sauce is so fresh and delicious. I highly recommend. Their burritos are massive and square and filling AF! They were veggie friendly for years before it was trendy. They have some delicious Tofu wraps, beans and other veggie goodies on which that southwest green wing sauce flavors up quite nicely. For thanksgiving, they have their Gobblerito which is a turkey/stuffing/potato filled behemoth of a meal with cranberry sauce to slather on top. It's like thanksgiving on a plate. Wait, that's not a good analogy, but you get my drift. They do occasionally offer this over the summer as a promotion too to get your turkey fix in before you're sick of seeing turkey everywhere. The service at this location is a bit slow. The waitress barely stopped at our table for drink refills and such. The food takes a long time to come out, but it's worth it. Don't go if you're in a hurry, but go if you're hungry.
